Access is our mission, not a checkbox
PathAble is built by and for the disability community, so making this site usable for everyone is central to who we are, not an afterthought. This page explains the standard we build toward, what we have put in place, where we know we still have work to do, and how to reach us if something is hard to use.
Our commitment
We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA across pathableai.com and our state resource portals, and we are actively working toward WCAG 2.2, Level AA. Accessibility is treated as an ongoing practice: we review it as we build and fix issues as we find them or as you report them.
What we have built in
- Keyboard navigation. The site can be used without a mouse, and a visible "Skip to main content" link appears when you tab into a page.
- Screen-reader structure. Semantic headings and landmark regions, descriptive link text, and alternative text on meaningful images.
- Plain language, at your pace. Our portals lead with everyday needs rather than agency jargon, and never require an account or login.
- Language. Portal guidance is available in English and Spanish.
- Respecting your settings. We honor your browser's reduced-motion and "Do Not Track" preferences.
- Readable design. We design for color contrast and resizable text so content stays legible when you zoom.
Where we are still improving
We would rather be honest than claim perfection. Some areas are not yet fully to our standard and are on our active list: certain embedded third-party tools such as our newsletter and contact forms may not fully meet WCAG AA; some older downloadable PDFs may not be fully tagged for screen readers; and we are pursuing an independent accessibility evaluation (VPAT) for the PathAble Platform used by our partners.
Report a barrier and we will fix it
If any part of this site is hard to use with your assistive technology, please tell us. We treat access barriers as bugs. Email info@pathableai.com or call (609) 566-8273. If you can, include the page address, what you were trying to do, and the device and assistive technology you use, for example an iPhone with VoiceOver or a Windows PC with NVDA. We aim to respond within 3 business days, and if you need it we will provide the information another way while we work on a fix.
Need help right now?
If you are trying to reach services and the website is in your way, you do not have to wait on us: your state portal lists a phone line you can call with no signup. If you or someone you support is in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline).
