Learning Portal — NJ Disability Resources Made Simple
Find the right New Jersey support, one step at a time.
New Jersey has a lot of programs for people with disabilities and the people who care for them. The PathAble Learning Portal helps families, individuals, staff, and community partners find what fits in plain language, at their own pace.
What the learning portal does
The portal is a free, no-login walkthrough for navigating New Jersey disability resources. Visitors can answer a few simple questions to personalize their path, follow a guided storybook-style walkthrough, or skip straight to a browsable topic library.
Who it is for
- People with disabilities looking for New Jersey support options.
- Family members, caregivers, and trusted supporters helping someone plan next steps.
- Staff and community partners who need plain-language explanations of available resources.
- Students and transition-age youth preparing for adult services, work, and independent living.
Key portal features
- Personalized intake: simple questions about audience, life stage, familiarity, and top need shape the suggested path.
- Guided walkthrough: chapter-by-chapter pages help visitors understand relevant supports without needing to know the system first.
- Topic library: visitors can browse all topics at any time instead of completing the walkthrough.
- Summary: visitors can review the topics they visited and save a plain-text takeaway summary.
- No login: answers stay on the visitor's device.
Topics covered
The portal points visitors toward topics such as applying for disability benefits, employment supports, school-to-adult transition, housing and independent living, transportation, healthcare, planning documents, family support, and community resources.

Visitors who prefer to talk to a real person are directed to the NJ Division of Disability Services helpline at 1-888-285-3036, where live certified representatives are available Monday through Friday.
PathAble's approach
The learning portal reflects PathAble's co-design philosophy: Nothing About Us Without Us. It is designed to make disability resource navigation clearer while respecting the lived experience of people with disabilities, families, and the staff who support them.
